Under the leadership of Tom Burns (b. 1952) since 1993, the Perkins Observatory began a new life as the premier public astronomy venue in central Ohio. With his weekly newspaper column and visits to area schools Burns has inspired and educated thousands of people. The name was suggested by R. Martino.
