Nicole Oresme (c. 1323–1382), bishop of Lisieux, conceived the representation of time-varying quantities by two-dimensional graphs, using the latitude-longitude analogy. He drew a velocity-time graph for a body moving with constant acceleration, anticipating later discoveries in analytic geometry and kinematics. (M 38202) _ _.
