Irish poet William Butler Yeats (1865-1939) was an Irish poet, winner of the Nobel prize for literature in 1923. He was known for his highly artistic form that gave expression to the spirit of a whole nation. On his grave in County Sligo is the advice “Cast a cold Eye On life, on death. Horseman, pass by!”
