Named by the La Plata Observatory in memory of Miguel Itzigsohn, some time professor of spherical and practical astronomy and head of the department of extrameridian astronomy at the La Plata Observatory. He was in charge of the work on minor planets at La Plata and contributed extensively to the development of astrometry in Argentina. (M 5449) _ _.
