Amos de Shalit (1926-1969) was an Israeli nuclear physicist who made important contributions to the nuclear-shell model. In 1954 he founded the faculty of physics at the Weizmann Institute of science, and served as the institute director general. In 1968 de Shalit founded the science-education department at the Weizmann Institute.
