Named in memory of Hans Kienle (1895–1975), an astrophysicist, who served as Director of several German observatories. He was director of the Heidelberg-Königstuhl Observatory from 1950–1962. His work on spectrophotometry is well-known. He was president of IAU Commission 36 from 1955 to 1958. (M 4155) _ _.
