The fort of Batavia (Castro Batava) was a Roman frontier fort (1st to 5th century AD) in the area of Passau in Bavaria, Germany. The name was derived from Batavia, the Germanic mercenaries stationed there by the tribe of the Batavians. From Batavia developed the present name Passau.
