Michael R. Schottland (1889-1962) was an industrialist, philanthropist and avid amateur astronomer, who founded the Virginia Mirror Company, which still thrives today. He is the original owner and donor of the astrograph that would become the LONEOS telescope, an instrument that was used to discover many asteroids.
