Named in honor of Jorge Sahade, former {1985–1988} president of the International Astronomical Union, well-known Argentinian astrophysicist who has served as director of the Córdoba and La Plata Observatories and was the first director of the Instituto de Astronomia y Fisica del Espacio. During the 1960s he initiated the process that led to the acquisition of the 2.15-m reflector in the Complejo Astronomica El Leoncito. (M 11156) _ _.
