Named in memory of Walter Horn (1881–1967), promoter of astronomical knowledge in Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany’s most industrialized area. Horn founded the public observatory in Solingen and, as early as 1924, a society for amateur astronomers. He was considered, not only as an amateur with remarkable didactic skills, but also as a philanthropist who helped many people in the economically unstable mid 1920s. (M 20158) _ _.
