Maurice Hilleman (1919-2005) was an American microbiologist who developed 8 of the 14 most common vaccines (measles, mumps, hepatitis A, hepatitis B, chickenpox, meningitis, pneumonia and Haemophilus influenzae bacteria). He is very likely the person who saved the most lives in modern times.
