The dramatic poet and playwright Franz Grillparzer (1791–1872) was a celebrated figure in Austrian literature, a lifelong loyal to the Hapsburg Dynasty and a friend of Beethoven {see planet  (1815)}. Best known among his works are the historical tragedy King Ottocar, His Rise and Fall and the lyric tragedy The Waves of Sea and Love. (M 45345) _ _.
