Named in honor of Zhou Guangzhao, president of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and known for his creative work in several major fields of theoretical physics, notably particle physics, quantum-field physics, condensed-matter physics and statistical physics. He is recognized internationally as one of the founding fathers of research on the partially conserved axial vector current, and he introduced the concept of helicity amplitude and its corresponding mathematical description.
