Named in memory of Jan Ondřejův, known as Šindel (c.1375-c.1456), Czech medieval astronomer, mathematician, physician, professor at the universities in Nuremberg, Vienna and Prague, rector of the Charles University in Prague. He designed the famous Prague astronomical clock, which was built by the clockmaster Nicolas of Kadaň in 1410 and is still working today. Name suggested by J. Ticha and M. Šolc.
