Henri Vieuxtemps (1820-1881), a Belgian composer and violist, was the prominent exponent of the Franco-Belgian violin school during the mid-19th century. The composer of six concertos for violin, two concertos for cello and sixteen compositions for violin and piano, he was particularly admired in Russia.
