Named in honor of Jacques Breysacher, astronomer in charge of the Section for Visiting Astronomers at the European Southern Observatory. His scientific work is mainly concerned with stellar spectroscopy and the classification in external galaxies, and he has carried out an extensive study of the Wolf-Rayet populations of the Magellanic Clouds.
