Named in memory of Alla Nikolaevna Simonenko (1935–1984), specialist on small bodies of the solar system. She made substantial contributions to the study of the physical process of meteoroid fragmentation, the distribution of meteor radiants, the influx of meteoric matter to the earth, and the dynamics of asteroid orbits. She published two books on the study of asteroids, and actively favored the development of physical investigations of asteroids in the former U.S.S.R. (M 22501) _ _.
