Named in honor of Albert John Carlisle (1917–1993), who spent his life working in the Australian Bush. As a consequence, John Carlisle found more than 9000 meteorites on the Nullarbor Plain of Western Australia during the past 52 years. In 1982 he was awarded an Order of Australia Medal for his contribution to science. (M 22829) _ _.
