Italian archeoastronomer Guido Cossard (b. 1958) made a big contribution to the study of megalithic sites located in Valle d'Aosta, in particular on the interpretation of several engravings with astronomical meanings found there. Of particular importance is his work on the Coligny calendar dating back the Celtic period.
