Named in honor of Ton A. Schoenmaker (1945– ), for many years technical officer at Leiden Observatory. He wrote computer programs for the van Houtens {see planets  (1673) and  (1674)}, so that they were able to make the first identifications for their three Trojan Surveys. The help of Ton is very much appreciated. Ton is also a visual comet observer. (M 22506) _ _.
