Robert J. Miller (b. 1950), astronomer at the U.S. Naval Observatory since 1972, worked on the six-inch transit circle programs and became one of the most prolific observers in that telescope's 100-year history. From 1996 until his retirement on 2006 Jan. 2 he worked in the Nautical Almanac Office.
