Born in Ithaca, Achaemenides was a Greek warrior who eventually became an ally of Aeneas’ {see planet  (1172)} Trojans. Originally he was a companion of Odysseus {see planet  (1143)} and fought on the Greek side at Troy. Later, he was left behind in the land of the Cyclops when Odysseus blinded the Cyclops and escaped. There Aeneas found him - squalid, dressed in rags held together with thorns - and rescued him.
