Named in honor of Robin Brett (1935– ), an Australian-born, Harvard-educated American citizen active in the planetary-science program from its early days. His research has included geochemical studies of meteoritic and lunar samples, modeling the cores of the terrestrial planets and geologic mapping of impact craters. He was responsible for much of the planning for the massive study of the Apollo lunar samples. A born organizer, Brett has directed his activities toward advancing international cooperation in research; the fact that he is known as a “nice guy” with a great sense of humor may have helped.
