Named in memory of Ryonosuke Manabe (1926–1983), who worked for many years as a computer assistant for H. Hirose {see planet  (1612)} at the Tokyo Astronomical Observatory. In 1974 he went to work for NASD A, where he was involved with the Japanese geodesy satellite. (M 29146) _ _.
