Named in honor of Wendee Esther Wallach on the occasion of her engagement to David Levy {see planet  (3673)}. For 26 years beginning in September 1970, Wendee taught physical education in three public schools of Las Cruces, New Mexico. As an instructor-trainer in swimming with the American Red Cross for almost three decades, Wendee has taught water safety to students and to swimming instructors. Through her inspired teaching, leadership and example, she has touched the lives of thousands of young people. (M 27330) _ _.
