Giovanni Bignami (b. 1944) is an astrophysicist who contributed to the realization and scientific exploitation of the major space missions devoted to gamma-ray astronomy. He was president of the Italian Space Agency and COSPAR, and now of the Italian National Institute of Astrophysics.
