Named for a small but busy town very near Florence with a tradition in ceramics that goes back to the Middle Ages. During the Renaissance, Montelupo was the center of the majolica production under the Medici family. Today, the town is well known for its artistic production and for its industrial and handicraft activities, so that it is also called the “City of the ceramics”. (M 29149) _ _.
