Named for the city where the discoverer lives and his observatory is located. Nanyou City lies to the north of Tokyo, two and a half hours away on the Yamagata {see planet  (7039)} line (the new express train). It is famous for Akayu-onsen (hot springs), the Kumano shrine and Kikuningyou (a doll made of chrysanthemums). (M 32791) _ _.
