Habsburg or Habichtsburg (“hawk's castle”) is a ruin in the Swiss canton of Aargau. It is the ancestral seat of the European Habsburg dynasty, which reigned for 1000 years. Its power culminated with emperor Karl V (1500-1558). The name was suggested by the first discoverer.
