Named in honor of the American astronomer Edwin Brant Frost (1866–1935) in gratitude for his generous help during the difficult years after World War I (see also planet  (849)). Frost was professor of astrophysics at the University of Chicago and director of the Yerkes Observatory. He also edited the Astrophysical Journal. (H84) _ _.
