Arne Slettebak (1925–1999) was for 16 years chair of the department of astronomy of Ohio State University. His principal research interests were stellar rotation and spectroscopy, particularly the study of Be stars. He led the effort to move the 1.8-m Perkins telescope from Ohio to the Lowell Observatory.
