Jan van Eyck (1395–1441) was a Flemish painter best known for The Adoration of the Lamb (1432), displayed in the cathedral of Ghent {see planet  (9473)}. There is some mystery about a second name, Hubert, appearing on the Ghent Altarpiece. Hubert was also a Flemish painter and probably the brother of Jan. (M 47165) _ _.
