Georges Baron Cuvier (1769-1832) was a French zoologist who established the sciences of comparative anatomy and paleontology. Although denying evolution, he was particularly successful in reconstructing complete skeletons of unknown quadrupeds, giving evidence that whole species of animals had become extinct.
