Gemini Full Moon: The Truth Within

04 Dec 2017, 11:01 am

Happy Gemini Full Moon! This is the time in the lunar calendar when the spotlight shines on communication and the mind, from writing and speaking to classes and learning. Gemini is driven by a need for information and new ideas. It’s a sign that also shows us that there is two sides to every story. With that in mind, the full moon is exact on December 3, 2017 at 10:47 am EST, 11 degrees Gemini/Sagittarius. That’s 7:47 am Los Angeles, 3:47 pm London, and 2:47 am in Sydney on December 4.

On paper Gemini is fun. It likes play, especially if it involves language. It likes to keep things fast and loose. It’s generally not a sign known for its committal because why commit when you can have two or even five of everything. (Whee!) For this Gemini is the sign of choice and sometimes the choices are endless.

So, what happens when Gemini has to make a choice? And choose just one?

This full moon proposes just that. With Mercury poised at the very last degree of Sagittarius, just off of the planet Saturn in Sagittarius, this full moon moon has a bit of weight to it. Saturn is anything but fast and loose. It’s meticulous, planned, responsible, and commanding. Not only is Saturn forcing us to get real about our choices, but take responsibility for our thoughts and words, and to make a serious decision — one that has roots in all the work on faith and education we’ve been doing since the start of 2015.

Here’s the plot twist. Mercury just turned retrograde. How do we make a decision when there’s a chance that we don’t have all the information?

The story that this full moon is highlighting is far from over. Mercury Retrograde means that we have to go back and reexamine our beliefs or how we see something, double check the facts, and do more research. Mercury Retrograde means that whatever we’re working through has karmic underpinnings. Have we made the right decisions? Are we open to new ideas or are we shut down by inflexible beliefs? Mercury won’t get back to 29 Sagittarius until January 10, so this story will play out into the new year.

The other major factor in this full moon is Neptune. It’s making an exact square to the Sun and Moon, forming what’s called a t-square. This means that on top of reexamining choice and our commitments, there’s something decidedly out of our hands. Neptune squares show us where there’s an outside force at play, a force that’s much bigger than us. Call it the divine, call it spirit, but there’s an element of sacrifice in the story that is unfolding. How do we align ourselves and our choices with what the divine wants?

The best remedy for this full moon is to find a quiet place to reflect. Neptune wants us to find our intuition and find the truth within. Spend time meditating over the next couple of days. Journal your feelings if you like to write. It is in the quiet that we can take awareness of our choices and be conscious of how we use words, language, and ideas. By the new year we’ll have a clearer idea of how to move forward.
