Computer specialist Peter Bluhm (1942-1997) was known for his efforts in electronic communication among amateur astronomers in Germany since the early 1980s. In 1987 he founded the first Astronomical Bulletin Board System in Dahlenburg. The name was suggested by A. Doppler.
