Berndt Feuerbacher (b. 1940) was for two decades head of the Institute of Space Simulation at the German Aerospace Center in Cologne. His institute has performed pioneering research work in space. He initiated the development of the comet lander Philae as part of the European Space Agency's Rosetta mission.
