P. G. Meesters (1887–1964) is the Nestor of amateur astronomy in the Netherlands. He built his own observatory and was an active observer of variable stars. His book Mijn Sterrenwacht, Speurtochten langs het Firmament/ (“My observatory, exploring the skies”) is still known by amateurs. (M 47167) _ _.
