Jan Huygen van Linschoten (1563–1611) lived in Asia from 1583 until 1588. After his return he wrote the first Dutch standard work about Asia, Itinerario (1596). It is a manual for sailors, as well as a trading guide and a treatise about countries and their people. (M 47167) _ _.
