Kamikuroiwa Iwakage Iseki, located in the town of Kuma Kogen, is the oldest grotto in Japan, dating from about 15~000 years ago. Discovered in 1961, numerous relics, such as stoneware, earthenware, stone arrowheads and stone figurines, were found during five excavations between 1962 and 1970.
