Ernst Pepping (1901-1981) was an organist and professor of music in Berlin and one of the leading German composers of church music. He rejuvenated sacred and secular choir music. His instrumental and vocal works are very extensive, and his books Stilwende der Musik and Der polyphone Satz set the fashion for their time.
