Erich Fromm (1900-1980) was a German psychoanalyst who believed that mankind could develop a psychologically balanced, sane society. He is widely known for Escape from Freedom (1941), but already in 1930 he had written Das Christus Dogma, which stresses the neglect of social factors in human psychology.
