Estonian astronomer Jaan Einasto (b. 1929) discovered the presence of dark matter in the universe in 1974, and he noted the regular cell-like structure in the large scale-distribution of superclusters of galaxies in 1977. Still a very active scientist, he has written more than 250 scientific papers.
