Cornelis Willem Schouten (1580-1625), together with Jacob Le Maire, discovered a passage from the south Atlantic to the Pacific. The Straits of Le Maire (Estrecho De Le Maire) is, with Staten Island (Isla de los Estados) and Cape Horn (Cabo de Hornos), a reminder of their epic 1615-1616 voyage.
