Stepan Petrovich Krasheninnikov (1711-1755) was a Russian scientist who studied the Kamchatka Peninsula between 1737 and 1741. His book Opisanie zemli Kamchatki (1751) is the first work on Kamchatka's geography, with a description of the language, daily life and history of the indigenous inhabitants.
