Graphic artist and photographer Heinrich Zille (1858-1929) portrayed the milieu of ordinary Berliners in the streets, working-class quarters and fairgrounds. His popular pictures appeared in several magazines. His sociocritical illustrations united comedy and tragedy in a unique way. The name was suggested by the first discoverer.
