Named after the Austrian form ‘Elsbeth’ of the most common feminine Christian name ‘Elisabeth’. It was also the name of the Austrian empress. This name was later changed in agreement with the discoverer into the more melodious ‘Elsa’. (A. Schnell) _ _.
