Jakob Staude (b. 1944) is staff astronomer at the Heidelberg Max Planck Institute for Astronomy and a well-known expert on star formation. Since 1981 Staude has also served as editor-in-chief of the German journal Sterne und Weltraum. The name was suggested by the first discoverer.
