The Pic-du-Midi Observatory was founded in the Pyrénées in the south of France in 1881. At an elevation of 2870 meters, the observatory pioneered observations of the solar corona and cosmic rays, as well as high-resolution techniques. The observatory is still in operation, with telescopes of aperture 2, 1 and 0.5 meter. (M 42368) _ _.
