German sculptor, painter and etcher Max Klinger (1857–1920) worked in Leipzig, partly in Rome. His greatest achievements are some sets of etchings. His best-known sculptures are those of Brahms and Beethoven {see planets (1818) and (1815), respectively} in Hamburg and Leipzig, respectively.
