Named in honor of David Morrison, astronomer at the University of Hawaii, Honolulu. His research into the infrared radiometric properties of asteroids has been fundamental in revealing the diversity of asteroid surface albedos and compositions. He has also worked on the definition of a taxonomic system for asteroids and on the distribution of the various taxonomic types in the main belt. (M 6209) _ _.
